HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM EXPOSURE & WORKER SAFETY

In November 2006 OSHA lowered the permissible exposure limit for hexavalent chromium from 50 micrograms to 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Since then, the need for full-scale management of these hazards – rather than piecemeal solutions – has intensified.

How We Help You

  • Perform characterization, monitoring, and evaluation of site conditions and worker exposure
  • Produce an exhaustive report and design a remediation plan
  • Continue to work closely with both you and the regulatory agencies to provide updates regarding compliance solutions
  • Conduct feasibility studies to develop a long-term strategy for reducing cleanup timeframes

We also offer training courses to help you understand the complexities of OSHA compliance.

As a result of our skill and experience in this area, we are currently playing a key role in the nation’s largest study of industrial worker and welder exposure to hexavalent chromium.

PROJECT EXPERIENCE

S&R formulated a Hexavalent Chromium Program for a national energy provider with co-generation stations in 18 states. This comprehensive program encompassed onsite monitoring of workers in various conditions at plants throughout the United States. The data was then gathered and formulated into an OSHA-compliant Hexavalent Chromium Program which assisted the energy provider in earning OSHA’s recognition as a VPP Star.

WATER SAMPLING

We conduct water sampling for state compliance purposes or for investigative purposes. S&R implements a strict Chain of Custody Procedure which documents the handling and transfer of samples to the laboratory. All samples are submitted to certified laboratories for analysis by approved methods.

Our services include:

  • Drinking Water
  • Groundwater Monitoring
  • Aquatic/Marine Sampling
  • Storm water Sampling

SITE CHARACTERIZATION

If you’re looking for assistance with environmental testing, Denver’s S&R Environmental Consulting can help you with everything from water and soil sampling to site assessments.

How We Help You

S&R can perform site characterization beginning with sampling and investigation, and ending with recommendations for remediation and clean-up.

Environmental Site Assessments, Phase I and Phase II

Environmental Site Assessments are critical in determining potential or existing environmental conditions of a property. S&R uses industry-wide customary practice as set forth by the EPA, ASTM and other industry organizations. S&R can assist you in conducting your environmental due diligence. If a site is considered contaminated, S&R has experienced environmental professionals on staff to help you design remediation and clean-up plans.

Soil Sampling

S&R can conduct comprehensive sampling to detect potential water and soil contamination. Soil contamination is a problematic issue in the environment. S&R can help you assess if soil contamination is present, to what extent and assist you in developing a plan for remediation.

Soil sampling can be conducted for:

  • Nutrient Testing
  • Asbestos
  • Metals
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
  • MTBE/BTEX
