Now Offering Lead Training

S&R is now offering Lead RRP training courses.  We are an EPA approved training provided for Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting.  The RRP Rule requires that all renovation and repair contractors working in pre-1978 homes, schools and day care centers become EPA Certified in lead-safe work practices.

All courses are approved and accredited by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

OUR CORE TRAINING PROGRAMS


ASBESTOS TRAINING

The Asbestos Awareness Initial training course provides basic information on working with or around asbestos. This course is required by OSHA and AHERA for employees who are likely to be exposed to asbestos or for all employees who perform asbestos work. Information covered includes:

  • Methods of recognizing asbestos
  • Health effects associated with asbestos exposure
  • Relationship between smoking and asbestos in producing lung cancer
  • The nature of operations that could result in exposure to asbestos
  • Engineering and work practice controls
  • Housekeeping, decontamination, emergency and waste disposal procedures
  • Respiratory protection and medical surveillance requirements

BUILDING INSPECTOR 



The Building Inspector Initial course will prepare an individual for a position as a building inspector. The course covers the following topics:

  •  Background information on asbestos
  •  Potential health effects related to asbestos
  •  Functions/Qualifications and role of an inspector
  •  Legal liabilities and defenses
  •  Understanding building systems
  •  Pre-inspection planning
  •  Inspecting for friable and non-friable ACM and assessing the condition of friable ACM
  •  Bulk sampling and documentation methods
  •  Respiratory protection and PPE
  •  Proper record keeping
  •  Writing the inspection report
  •  Regulatory Review

 

Course Length: 3 Days/ 8 Hours per day

OPERATION & MAINTENANCE



The Asbestos Operations and Maintenance training program will meet the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) General Industry Asbestos Standard, OSHA Construction Asbestos Standard and the EPA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). The course covers the following topics:

  •  Information regarding asbestos and its various uses and forms
  •  The health effects associated with asbestos exposure
  •  Recognition of damage and deterioration of ACBM
  •  Descreiptions of the proper method of handling ACBM
  •  Respiratory protection
  •  Regulatory Review
  •  Hands on procedures for glove bags and mini-enclosures
  •  Practices for reducing asbestos exposure
  •  Work practices and engineering controls

 

Course Length: 2 Days/ 8 Hours per day

LEAD TRAINING



The EPA requires a certified renovator to be present for portions of work where lead based paint will be impacted during renovation activities. This course meets EPA requirements for Certified Renovator certification. This course is presented through video presentations, lectures, handouts and hands-on experience. This course covers the following topics:

  • Information about lead paint
  • Regulations
  • Information Distribution Requirements
  • Work Practices
  • Recordkeeping Requirements

Course Length: 8 Hours
